“Computer Animated Characters – Where art meets technology and design meets engineering”

The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), in conjunction with CultureTech in Derry/Londonderry and Momentum, the ICT Trade Body for Northern Ireland and the University of Ulster have come together to recognise the unique opportunity offered by Derry’s status as UK City of Culture. To showcase and debate the commercial possibilities when the worlds of technology and creativity collide we have brought together some of the key creative stake-holders in in the Northern Ireland community.

Professor Greg Maguire who has been instrumental in the launch and development of numerous heavy-hitters of animation including Walt Disney Feature Animation and Lucasfilm Animation will kick off the event with a presentation. Greg’s credits include Academy Award nominated “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azakaban”, Academy Award winning “Happy Feet” and “Avatar”. He is Chair of the Animation programme at the University of Ulster’s School of Art and Design in Belfast.

Greg will then join an invited panel of experts in the field of creative media. Confirmed panellists include Colin Williams, Sixteen South, Conánn FitzPatrick, The School of Art and Design, UUB.
